The price to park in Chicago is going up – again.

For the majority of the city’s metered parking spots – 82% – the rates will increase to $2 dollars an hour.  It’ll go up to $4 dollars an hour near downtown and a whopping $6.50 an hour downtown.

There’s not much motorists can do about it.  It’s all part of the contract with Chicago Parking Meters llc.

The transition to the new rates won’t happen all at once.  They’ll start in the downtown area after the new year, then spread through Chicago’s neighborhoods.  New rates will be posted on the pre-pay meter boxes on the streets.
