A woman was shot and killed as she drove on Lake Shore Drive.

Police say a brown van pulled up along side the woman’s vehicle at LSD and I-55 , and someone inside the van opened-fire. In all, up to 14 shots were fired.

The victim was 32 years-old.

Her 37-year-old passenger escaped unharmed. Police had a chance to interview her.

Illinois State Police Capt. Luis Gutierrez said at a press conference that “this incident stems from drug and gang activity.”
