William Pettry, 42, died after Matthew Hinson, 28, slashed his neck with a pocket knife.

Pettry traveled to Florida to see the Bears play. Police say Hinson may have been angry because Pettry was talking to his wife.

Pettry was a married father of three. Hinson worked as a chef at the Hyatt Regency Waterfront Hotel before his arrest.

Hinson’s sentence could be as low as 20 years, but officials said the state is seeking a life sentence.
