City of Chicago snow removal vehicles moving to neighborhood streets
CHICAGO — After 36 hours of continuous snow removal on main streets, Chicago’s Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS) is going to start clearing residential streets Monday.
Over 500 pieces of snow removal equipment, including snow plows and spreaders, will be used to clear streets, remove snow piles resulting from plowing efforts, and address snow around vital public safety sites like hospitals, police and fire stations, and schools.
The historic winter storm resulted in over 19 inches in Chicago since late Saturday evening, making it the fifth largest
DSS will continue to monitor weather and road conditions from Snow Command, and will adjust resources as needed.
