GRAYSLAKE, Ill. -- ComEd expects to have power restored to everyone in the far north suburbs by tonight, as cleanup continues from Sunday’s tornado.

The National Weather Service says it was an E-F 1 tornado that touched down just after 8 p.m. Sunday night, leaving a path of destruction for several miles through Grayslake, Round Lake and Wildwood.

Grayslake Central High School was among the buildings damaged by the tornado but the School Superintendent does expect school to open on schedule on August 15.

Winds up to 100 miles an hour blew down large trees and snapped power lines all over the area.

One suburban fire chief says it's the worst damage he's ever seen.

Dozens of home were damaged by downed trees and debris.

Cleanup crews were busy this morning.
