Navy Pier celebrates its 100th birthday today


CHICAGO –Navy Pier, the world’s longest pier, turns 100 years old Friday.

Festivities begin at 10 a.m. including free slices of Eli’s Cheesecakes, games and activities for children and other surprises.

At 6:30 p.m., the Chicago Shakespeare Theater will perform the romantic comedy,“Twelfth Night” for free on an outdoor stage on Navy Pier’s East End Plaza.

At 9:25 p.m., guests over 21 can join in a free toast to Navy Pier, and at 9:30 p.m. all guests will be treated to a special 100th Anniversary Fireworks show.
