CHICAGO — Dangerous heat is possible on Thursday and Friday and into Saturday.
The National Weather Service in Chicago has extended its Excessive Heat Watch, which is now in effect from noon Thursday through Saturday.
The watch is in place for the following counties:
Boone; Cook; De Kalb; DuPage; Ford; Grundy; Iroquois; Kane; Kankakee; Kendall; La Salle; Lake; Lee; Livingston; McHenry; Ogle; Will; Winnebago.
Temperatures will reach mid 90s Thursday and mid to upper 90s Friday.
Temperatures this high could lead to heat related illnesses with prolonged exposure.
The elderly, small children and pets are especially susceptible. Plan ahead. Have a cool place to shelter from the heat. Avoid outdoor activity during the afternoon.
