Several Illinois Republicans skipping GOP convention
CHICAGO — Several notable Republicans from Illinois are skipping the convention.
Senator Mark Kirk disapproves of Trump, and is trying to distance himself from him while he faces a tough re-election bid against Democratic Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth.
Congressman Bob Dold also decided to stay back in his district.
And, Governor Bruce Rauner is in Illinois meeting with constituents.
Comptroller Leslie Munger says she’s not going, so she can focus on the state’s fiscal crisis.
And, Regional Transportation Authority Chairman Kirk Dillard is also staying behind.
