Cook County Pres. Toni Preckwinkle on her seat next to Bill Clinton at DNC

CHICAGO -- Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle sat next to Bill Clinton at the Democratic National Convention on Monday night.

So how'd she score that prime seat? Preckwinkle talked with WGN Tuesday morning about the seat and the experience.

“I was honored to join the president [Bill Clinton] in his box and grateful to have a chance to hear Michelle Obama’s speech with him,” she told WGN.

Preckwinkle said she met Clinton on Election Day and he was in her ward in her precinct.

She said that the former president was moved by Obama's speech.

The Cook County president found Michelle Obama’s speech to be “encouraging," and  she is “hopeful” the Democratic Party will come together.

“I hope that the fact Donald Trump is the nominee for the Republican Party will bring unity to the Democratic Party,” Preckwinkle said.
