Chicago police in two police-involved shootings Thursday night

CHICAGO -- One man was killed and another person was injured in two police-involved shootings last night on the city's South Side.

An 18-year-old male is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.

The shooting happened at 7:30 p.m. Thursday after police spotted a stolen car near 74th and Merrill.

The Jaguar was stolen from Bolingbrook earlier in the evening.

According to police, as officers got out to confront the driver, he put the car in drive and side-swiped a squad car and a parked car. That's when at least two officers fired.

Officers then continued to follow the fleeing offender.

He was eventually transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Chicago police and the Independent Police Review Authority are still investigating .

The officers involved will be placed on administrative duties for 30 days per department policy.

In the Englewood neighborhood, a robbery suspect was shot by Chicago police officers just before 7:00 p.m. last night.

It happened on the 6700 block of South May.

A man told police he had been robbed, and pointed the suspect out to them.  Police chased the suspect and saw a weapon in his hand.

The officers told him to drop it.   Police say that he didn't drop the weapon and they shot him twice.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital in fair-to-serious condition.
