CHICAGO –A six-year-old girl underwent surgery Friday for a gunshot wound she suffered in a shooting on Chicago’s South Side.
The shooting happened around 2:30 p.m Thursday near 68th and Calumet in the city's Park Manor neighborhood.
6-year-old Zariah Muhammad was shot in the head while playing outside with her uncle and cousins, having a water balloon fight.

A witness says a man walked up to McCray and opened fire.
McCray was shot multiple times in the chest and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Zariah was transported to Comer Children’s Hospital. Her concerned family and friends rushed to be by her side.
Hours after the shooting McCray’s grieving family came to the scene where there is also now a vigil.
