This year’s Air and Water Show: What you need to know

This year’s Air and Water Show is just days away.

Set up is underway for Chicago’s 58th Air and Water Show, and spectators are getting excited.

Fans will be able to see the amazing stunts of the planes and boats this Saturday and Sunday from 10-3.

You definitely have to like crowds, because North Avenue Beach will be packed. Lucky for you though: we have a great new spot to tell you about not far from there.

This year crews built nearly 6 acres of new park space where we once saw water at Fullerton. It opened this year and will be a perfect spot to watch the action.

So what’s the best way to get here? Public transportation. CTA and Metra are both adding service. Metra has its $8 weekend pass, and up to 3 kids under 11 can ride free with each adult.

On the CTA you can hop on the Brown Line to Sedgwick or the Red Line to North Avenue and walk to the action, or take a bus to get close.

The #72 and #151 buses are both adding service. Also consider Divvy bikes; Divvy will be operating its free valet service, so you don’t have to search for as spot to dock your bike.

And if you choose to drive here, think about the millennium garage underground. It’s $35 to park, but you’ll get a free shuttle to the beach.
