Person in custody after gunfire exchanged with CPD

CHICAGO – A person is in custody after exchanging gunfire with Chicago police Monday afternoon on the South Side.

No one was injured in the shootout that occurred around 2 p.m. in the 300 block of W. 106th Street.

Police say shots were fired at officers and officers returned fire.

Authorities say the suspect was not hit when police fired shots.

A suspect was apprehended and a weapon was recovered.

The Independent Police Review Authority was also headed to the scene.
