Shots fired on I-57 in Matteson

MATTESON, Ill. — A shooting on I-57 in Matteson forced a three-hour shutdown overnight.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, a woman called police to say someone had fired shots at her vehicle while on the highway near Route 30.

The woman was in her car alone, and was not injured.

The northbound lanes of I-57 were shutdown between Route 30 and Vollmer Road. Police recovered at least six shell casings from the scene.

The lanes were reopened around 4 a.m.

No description of the shooter was available.
