CHICAGO — Chicago Bulls star Dwyane Wade has taken to Twitter to lament the fatal shooting of his cousin, and plea for peace in his hometown of Chicago.

In a series of tweets on Saturday, Wade said he was sick of the violence in the city, and said something must be done to stop it. His comments came the day after his cousin, Nykea Aldridge, a mother of four, was gunned down on the South Side will pushing her newborn baby in a stroller.  Police say she was not the intended target.

Chicago Police confirm they are talking with three people of interest in the case.   However, there are no arrests and no one has been charged.

Wade, a multiple-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, signed with the Bulls in July. He is from Robbins, Illinois.

A prayer vigil for Nykea Aldridge is planned for 1pm today at the Willie Mae  Morris Empowerment Center at 12900 S. Halsted in Chicago.

The family has established a trust fund for Aldridge’s four children.

Contributions should be payable to Nykea Aldridge Children’s Fund.

Contributions should be mailed to Seaway National Bank, 645 E. 87th Street, Chicago IL 60619 – Attention: Daryl Newell, Chief Retail Officer
