Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo writes letter, gives generous gift to boy battling leukemia

Just two months shy of his 2nd birthday, Parker Hopkins, of Iowa, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on August 13.

The family has started a Facebook page named Parker Strong, which caught the attention of  Chicago Cubs star Anthony Rizzo.

The Cubs first baseman wrote the family a letter.

In the letter, Rizzo tells Parker about his own battle with cancer at 18, and the things that inspired him on his journey.

He added that he would be giving a $2500 donation to help his family "through this difficult time."

This isn't the first time Rizzo has done this either -- he's sent other letters and donations to other children battling cancer.

Parker's family says they are humbled that such a big star is helping them out.
