Suspect shot by DEA agents at suburban mall

JOLIET, Ill. -- Drug enforcement officials in Joliet shot and wounded a suspect at the Louis Joliet Mall Tuesday afternoon.

Undercover agents met with a suspected drug dealer around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the mall parking lot.

Agents saw that suspect was in possession of two kilos of cocaine with a street value of $70,000.

When agents attempted to arrest him, the suspect produced a gun and began firing at the agents.

The agents returned fire, hitting the suspect in the leg, according to police.

The suspect was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A second suspect is also in custody.

No law enforcement was injured.
