ROSEMONT, Ill. -- The Islamic Society of North America kicks-off its 53rd annual convention in Rosemont on Friday.

The three-day event is one of the largest of its kind in North America.

One couple that gained prominence at the Democratic National Convention will attend on Saturday.

The Khan family famously rebuked Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention over Trump's Muslim ban proposal.

The Muslim parents lost their son, a U.S. soldier, in Iraq in 2004.
