Fatal shooting prompts SWAT response in Englewood

CHICAGO – A man was killed and another man wounded in a shooting that prompted a SWAT team response in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood.

The two men were shot around 9:30 a.m. at 68th and Emerald.

A 26-year-old man shot in the head was pronounced dead at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the right thigh and grazed in the head. He was taken to another hospital in stable condition.

Witnesses thought they saw a gunman run into a nearby home, prompting a SWAT team response.

For about three hours they surrounded the home and told neighbors to stay inside and keep their doors locked.

Authorities entered the home but found no one.

The shooter is still at large.
