CHICAGO – A 71-year-old Chicago man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot while watering his lawn.

Neighbors of 71-year-old Fred Laguardia say he spent many days watering his lawn and chatting with neighbors.

Surveillance video show two people on bikes ride by Laguardia around 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Once they got to the end of the block, the suspect turned around and approached LaGuardia.

Police say they wanted his money but he refused.

Park district workers came to Laguardia’s aid and drove him to the hospital.

No one is in custody.

Police are investigating.
