CHICAGO — A pregnant Chicago woman who was shot in the abdomen in another instance of gun violence in the city later delivered a nearly full-term baby boy.

23-year-old Crystal Myer and her boyfriend, 27-year-old Albert Moore were shot near 53rd and Sangamon around 3:30 p.m. Monday in the city’s Back of the Yards neighborhood. The pair was shot while sitting on the porch of their home.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports police are investigating whether the shooting was connected to a fatal shooting Sunday in the same neighborhood.

Crystal remains in critical condition.

The Chicago Police Department has not yet released its count of fatal shootings for the Labor Day weekend. The Chicago Sun-Times reports 65 people were shot, including 13 who were killed. The newspaper says that surpasses last year's Labor Day weekend shooting deaths. Last year, 54 were shot, including eight who died.
