Woman, 18, fatally shot at Chicago vigil for shooting victim

CHICAGO -- Seven people were killed, another 25 were injured in shootings over the weekend in Chicago.

Among those victims was an 18-year-old woman who was shot on the sidewalk at 89th and Justine Sunday night.

She was attending a vigil on the same Chicago block where a man was killed a day earlier.

She was among three people shot on Sunday night in the city's Brainerd neighborhood. Two people wounded in the shooting, identified as a young man and a teenage boy, were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities say the three were among those at vigil for a 23-year-old man who had been shot outside his home on the block on Saturday. According to authorities, two people approached Nahmar T. Holmes and shot him. Police say that shooting likely was gang-related.
