LAKE FOREST – As the injuries pile up for the Bears early in the 2016 season the team is quickly looking to the outside for help.
On Tuesday they appear to be doing that in their backfield.
According to a report from the NFL Network the Bears are signing running back Joique Bell to a one-year contract. Reporter Rand Getlin had the initial report.
The acquisition of a running back isn’t a surprise considering the Bears’ injury issues at the position. Starter Jeremy Langford is expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain and backup Ka’Deem Carey missed last week’s game with the Cowboys due to a hamstring issue.
Bell hasn’t played during the 2016 season after being released by the Lions after four seasons. He appeared in 60 games for the Lions since 2012 rushing for 2,235 yards and 22 touchdowns with a four yards per carry average. Bell’s carries in 2015 were significantly lower as the rushed just 90 times for 311 yards and four touchdowns.
