CHICAGO - The Robin Ventura era is over.
There had been rumors that he was leaving for weeks, but today Ventura confirmed them.
"I just feel it's the right time. It's more of a personal decision than anything. I love being here. The organization means a lot to me," remarked Ventura at his final postgame press conference. "You can go as hard as you can. Really the only thing you know is how you conduct yourself, how you conduct your business, and how you treat people."
As for bench coach Rick Renteria potentially taking over?
"I don't hire people around here," Ventura smiled. "I know he's a great guy. I know he's very capable of doing that, but I don't hire people around here."
White Sox senior vice president and general manager Rick Hahn should shed some light on that situation at tomorrow's press conference.
