Student in custody, gun recovered after lockdown at West Side school

CHICAGO -- A student is in custody and a gun has been recovered from an alternative CPS school on Chicago's West Side.

Earlier Thursday, police responded to West Town Academy in the 500 block of North Sacramento for a call of a person with a gun. As a result, the school was placed on lockdown.

There are no reports of any injuries and the lockdown has since been lifted.

The charges against the student are pending.
