CHICAGO — The Belmont Blue Line station and bus terminal is getting a multimillion-dollar makeover.

The project will create a unique architectural canopy above the Belmont station entrance.

Other upgrades will improve the bus arrival and departure areas and decrease travel times.

The facility opened in 1970 as part of the Blue Line’s extension from Logan Square to Jefferson Park.

The Gateway Project is still in the design and development phase and is expected to cost up to $15 million.

The CTA expects to begin the improvements in 2017.
