Some Chicago Cubs fans duped by fake playoff tickets

CHICAGO -- Some Cubs fans weren't just disappointed with Sunday night's playoff loss to the Dodgers.

Many also got duped into buying fake tickets.

It's a problem that is likely to get worse as each game becomes more and more important for the Cubs.

Kevin Biederwolf and his roommate got to the gate at Wrigley Field Sunday night, after spending more than they would have liked on tickets -- only to find out they were fakes.

Kevin found the tickets on Craigslist, a site he has used dozens of times in the past with no problems. He says he even turned down tickets in the past because he thought they were fake.

He says half a dozen or so of his friends also bought fake tickets for Sunday night's game.

The Cubs say they collected more than 100 during the Giants series.

Kevin wants people to learn from his mistake. He says if you buy on Craigslist, or anywhere, buy from season ticket holders so you can go through the Cubs website.

A few other tips:

  • Buy from a licensed dealer
  • Look for MLB water marks
  • Use a credit card instead of cash
  • If it seems too good to be true, it probably is
  • Report the tickets to police
