Marc Trestman denies rumor Bears hiring him as coach

The rumors are flying as the Chicago Bears search for a new head coach.

Fox football analyst and former NFL coach Jimmy Johnson tweeted Friday morning the Bears have hired Marc Trestman.

“Looks like 2 of my guys getting NFL jobs … Chud Cleveland and my QB coach at U Trestman to Chicago,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

Later on Friday, Johnson took to Twitter once more to clarify: “I tweeted this morning “It LOOKS like 2 of my guys were getting NFL jobs not that Trestman got it!”Trestman also denied the rumor Friday in an email to the Montreal Gazette. “I have not heard from the Bears and have responded in that manner on multiple levels,” Trestman wrote.

Trestman used to be a quarterback’s coach under Johnson at the University of Miami, and he is currently a head coach in the Canadian Football League.

He last worked in the NFL in 2004 with the Miami Dolphins.
