Several hundred students at Lincoln Park High School left their classrooms Friday morning, and went outside to protest the firings of several popular teachers.

Eight teachers are being let go next school year as the school adopts an International Baccalaureate program.

The students claim expanding the IB program at L is being done to fire tenured teachers and put less-experienced teachers in their place- at lower salaries.

School officials say they’ll work with the teachers’ union to find other jobs for the teachers not being called-back.

Friday’s demonstration was peaceful with police on hand, and lasted for about an hour.
