The dog days of summer never looked better for some passengers on the maiden voyage of Mercury Cruise Line’s Canine Cruises.

Dogs and their owners boarded the boat at Chicago’s riverwalk, then went on a 90 minute tour of the river and lakefront.

Plenty of "dog-centric" amenities on board: there was fresh water and a newspaper-lined rest area.

Bigger dogs even got their own seats.

The Canine Cruise will run every Sunday at 10 a.m. through the end of September.
