Storms expected tonight

The National Storm Prediction Center has eastern Iowa, much of Wisconsin, the northern half of Illinois and extreme northwest Indiana including the Chicago area  positioned under a slight risk for severe thunderstorms today and tonight. In the Chicago area the risk for severe storms will primarily be late this afternoon into the overnight hours.

A band of strong to severe thunderstorms is forecast to develop along and ahead of a cold front as it moves southeast out of Wisconsin and northeast Iowa during the peak-heating hours this afternoon with the line of storms reaching northeast Illinois and the Chicago area late this afternoon and during the evening hours.
