Today Sen Mark Kirk held federal hearings to examine the threat ISIS could pose to Chicago.

Senator Kirk convened the hearings at the Dirksen Federal building this morning.

He referenced a WGN Investigates report that highlighted a war of words online including an implied threat against the Old Republic building at Michigan and South Water.

The senator says other Chicago targets have been in ISIS’s sights.

Senator Kirk and at least one Middle East expert who appeared at today's hearing believe airstrikes won't be enough. They say ground troops will be needed to defeat ISIS in Iraq
