Elderly woman, 72, shot in Englewood

CHICAGO -- An elderly woman was struck by a bullet after someone fired shots at her Englewood home.

The victim was a 72-year-old grandmother. Police say her condition was stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center.

Bullet holes could be seen at the scene in the front window of the house at 72nd and Sangamon.

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The 72-year-old woman was inside the home. Someone fired shots from outside and police  say she was was hit multiple times in the hand and chest. She was reportedly alert at the scene before she was rushed to the hospital. The house is about a block away from Excel Academy Englewood.

This investigation is ongoing right now. Police say they don't have anyone in custody.
