OAK LAWN, Ill. -- A man was killed when his car got hit by a Metra train in Oak Lawn Monday morning.

A train headed for Union Station struck a white SUV near East Shore Avenue just before 8 a.m.

The train struck the car and dragged it for several blocks.

The Oak Lawn Fire chief says the man in the SUV did have a pulse when he was removed from the vehicle, but died soon after at Christ Medical Center.

Two people from the train were transported to area hospitals. There were 900 people total on board.

Witnesses say the vehicle went around the guard rails.

Passengers boarded another train and were taken to Union Station.
