CHICAGO –  A Bridgeport man has been charged with attacking a jogger in the River North neighborhood last weekend.

Carl Freeman, 34, of the 3200 block of South Halsted Street, is charged with two counts of felony aggravated battery.

Chicago Police say Freeman attacked the 25-year-old woman at 5:50 a.m. last Saturday in the 200 block of West Kinzie Street.

He’s accused of grabbing the woman by her throat and slamming her on the ground.

The two struggled on the ground until a witness chased the attacker off.

Police had released a surveillance picture Wednesday showing a man suspected of the attack.

Police won’t say how they arrested Freeman, but they say he is a convicted felon.

Freeman is scheduled to appear in bond court later Saturday.
