Metra UP-NW train strikes pedestrian near Cary, disrupting service

CHICAGO — Metra UP-NW trains were stopped in both directions near Cary, IL after a train struck a pedestrian, but are moving again.

Metra said all trains are now moving with extensive delays, although different trains are adding or removing some stops in order to make up for the disrupted schedule. Check the Metra website for details.

Metra issued an alert around 5:38 p.m. saying Train #654  was stopped after striking a pedestrian near Cary.

Metra later said the train was moving again but will not operate past Cary. Train #658 will accommodate passengers at intermediate stops.

According to Metra, delays are expected to be extensive.
