Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford out with appendicitis
PHILADELPHIA — Blackhawks Goalie Corey Crawford missed Saturday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers after he underwent surgery for an acute appendicitis, according to the team.
Head team physician Dr. Michael Terry said Crawford showed symptoms Saturday morning before being taken in for surgery.
“Corey presented this morning with acute appendicitis. He is undergoing an appendectomy today at a Philadelphia hospital. We are anticipating a full recovery and return to play. We will provide details regarding the timeline of his return after we have more information about the surgery,” Dr. Terry said in a statement.
Scott Darling started Saturday afternoon’s game and the team signed Eric Semborski, who played club hockey at Temple University a few years ago to serve as Darling’s back-up on Saturday.
