CHICAGO — A Chicago teenager accused of stealing an SUV says the weather made him do it.

Eduardo Rivera, 18,  was stopped while driving a stolen Chevy Suburban near Belmont and Cicero Wednesday.

Police say he told them he was waiting for a bus in the 2300 block of N. Austin earlier in the day, when he spotted the SUV running with its doors unlocked.

He said he decided to take it because it was “too damn cold to stand and wait at the bus stop,” according to prosecutors.

Rivera is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
