CHICAGO — It’s been a violent year in Chicago.

The city will close 2016 out with more than 42,000 shootings, according to the Chicago Tribune.  That’s compared to nearly 3,000 shootings last year.

There have been more than 750 homicides in Chicago this year, up from almost 500 last year.

Community activist Andrew Holmes sees the violence first hand, on a daily basis.  He and his family have also been victims of gun violence.

Holmes shares his thoughts on what needs to be done, to stop the epidemic.
