ORLAND PARK, Ill. – An autopsy determined 60-year-old Mary Homolka died of a single gunshot wound to the head and her death is being investigated as a homicide, police said Saturday.

Officers were called to the house near 140th street and Sheri Lane for a well-being check around 4 p.m. Friday afternoon when they discovered her body in the garage of the family home. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death a homicide.

Neighbors say a married couple lives in the house and police have been called there many times. Her husband, 60-year-old Raymond Homolka, is in the custody of the Orland Park Police Department. No charges have been filed yet.
