Off-duty Cook County correctional officer shot on South Side

CHICAGO - An off-duty Cook County correctional officer was shot in the leg on the South Side Saturday night.

Police say he was standing outside a home near 73rd and Aberdeen around 8:30 p.m., when two men walked out of a vacant lot and started shooting. The officer was hit in the leg.

He was taken to the hospital in good condition.

So far, no one is in custody.
