CHICAGO --  Chicago Teachers Union president Karen Lewis says teachers will not stage a one-day walkout on May 1st.

The union's House of Delegates meets Wednesday and will consider a plan to keep teachers on the job.

But they ask teachers to show support for workers' demonstrations slated for May Day.

Teachers are at odds with the district over cost cutting, including a CPS threat to end the school year three weeks early.
