Police searching for vehicle involved in fatal crash in Aurora

AURORA, Ill. — Police responded to a report of a body in the roadway in Aurora around 2 a.m. Monday morning.

The body of a 22-year-old female was found on Orchard Rd, in the southbound lanes, between Galena Blvd. and Illinois Av. Orchard road between Galena Blvd and Indian trail had been closed for most of the morning.

After a preliminary investigation, police gathered that the female exited from a black Chevy SUV traveling along Orchard road and was run over by a 2015 Subaru traveling southbound on Orchard road.

The driver of the Subaru pulled over immediately and remained on the scene until officers arrived. The driver was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Police are working to locate the Chevy SUV and its occupants, as well as any potential witnesses to the crash.

The victim was transported to the Kane County Coroner’s office. The victim has not yet been identified.

Aurora police continue to investigate the crash.
