CHICAGO -- An elderly couple was attacked during a home invasion late Thursday night.

The victims were home in the 5400 block of West Henderson when an unknown number of offenders, in black hooded sweatshirts, got in and ransacked the place.

They may have gotten inside through a side window.

An 81-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were both attacked.

They are in stable condition, but they suffered some facial injuries.

Their neighbors say the victims were already dealing with health issues.

"Very nice couple. Good neighbors," said Ron Dompke. "Can't believe something like that would happen to anybody on the block."

The robbers got away with a purse.

No arrests have been made.
