Woman shot, killed while sleeping in Washington Park apartment ID’d

CHICAGO -- A woman who was shot and killed while she slept in her apartment in the Washington Park neighborhood has been identified.

Rhonda Hughes, 40, was killed by a bullet that flew through a window on Tuesday morning in the 5200 block of South King Drive.

She was asleep on a couch at the time.

The search for the person responsible is underway. There are surveillance cameras all over Hughes' building.

Police said the shooting was not random. But, it's not known if Hughes was the intended target.

Police said no one is in custody and they have no description of the shooter.
