CHICAGO -- Burglars crash a car through the front window of a Bucktown store early Monday morning.

The smash and grab happened at Diplomatic 1750, near North Avenue and Paulina Street.

Someone broke through the store's front window and security shutter by driving a red car through them.

An unknown number of people went inside and stole what they wanted.

Diplomatic 1750 sells shoes and clothes. Their items range from costing a couple hundred dollars to a couple thousand.

The owners of the store said they were aware of other smash and grabs in the area, but they figured by being on such a busy street such as North Avenue, thieves might think twice before breaking in.

Police said the car used was stolen and there were two getaway cars ready to carry away the merchandise.

The owners said while devastating, it's a part of doing business.

The owners are still totaling their losses, and from the sounds of it, it’s going to be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

No arrests have been made.
