Police search for suspect in pair of home burglaries in Mount Prospect

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. -- Police in Mount Prospect are looking at surveillance videos to find out who robbed a pair of homes Monday night while the homeowners' slept.

The videos show a man trying to get into unlocked homes in the area.

In one case, police say a man entered a home through an unlocked first floor window in the 800 block of Heritage Drive.

He stole several purses with cash and credit cards.

There was a second burglary in the 1700 block of Regency Court.

Police say a man got into a vehicle that was parked in a driveway and stole some power tools.

He then entered the home through a side door that appeared to be open and took a purse with cash and credit cards.

Police say they found some of the stolen items in neighborhood garbage cans.

Residents are urged to lock their windows, doors and cars at all times.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest, you may be rewarded $1000.
