AURORA, Ill. — Eleven people were injured after a car collided with an ambulance in the western suburbs Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the ambulance was carrying a patient and had its lights and sirens going when it was t-boned by a minivan at the intersection of Galena and West around 4 p.m.
Inside the minivan was a driver in his or her 20s, a 27-year-old female passenger, two 1-year-old twin boys and four girls, ages 4, 6, 12 and 13. At least some or all were related.
A 1-year-old boy and 12-year-old boy were transferred to a Chicago hospital for serious head wounds.
There is no word on any of the other victims' conditions.
Police are urging people to avoid the intersection if possible.
