CHICAGO — A 25-year-old Austin man who was reported missing has been found safe, his family said Friday.

Relatives were worried about Auston Cunningham because he requires medication twice daily to prevent seizures. Cunningham has autism and is nonverbal, authorities said.

He went out for a walk near his family’s South Side home earlier this week and never returned — prompting a missing person report.

But on Friday, Cunningham’s mother said her son had been located. He is being evaluated at a local hospital, but appears to be okay, she said.
