Man in custody after firing shots at officers, barricading himself

CHICAGO — A man was taken into custody after he fired shots at police and barricaded himself inside a home in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Officials were on the scene at the 8100 block of South Crandon Avenue around 4 p.m. Thursday. The barricade situation ended peacefully around 9 p.m., according to Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.
